WEDDINGS
 |
 |
 |
 |
The Bangladeshi wedding, still often arranged by the parents, is
not just the joining together of a man and a woman, but also of two families.
The ceremony is in many parts, over a few days.
The "big" celebration is when all guests are invited to the dinner.
Though the wealthy will put on a very lavish feast, the poor also feel
very obliged to do similar and often will go into debt to honour their
guests.

modern household appliances are finding their way into middle-class homes
many chores are still done in ancient ways or with very basic equipment.
Some, whose income is high enough, will have home-help to do most menial
tasks.
